Raleigh, NC, August 30, 2011 - The Grainger Foundation has donated $10,000 to the Triangle Red Cross in support of its mission of providing relief to victims of disaster and helping people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.
“This grant will be used to provide scholarships to outstanding youth volunteers participating in the Red Cross Heroes Program,” said Regional Executive Director Barry Porter. “We support developing today’s youth into active community volunteers that will continue to be community leaders into the future. We are grateful to The Grainger Foundation for its generosity.”
Porter said this program currently serves to inform the community about the Red Cross mission, encourage community involvement, teach youth to become proactive and concerned citizens, and raise needed funds to accomplish the Red Cross mission.
This donation was recommended by Kenneth Johnson, Branch Manager of W.W. Grainger, Inc.’s Raleigh, NC location. Grainger has been a part of the Raleigh business community as the leading broad line supplier of maintenance, repair, and operating products. “We are proud to recommend the programs offered by the Triangle Red Cross,” said Johnson. “We understand the need for helping the community prepare for emergencies and providing relief to those who experience disasters.”
The Grainger Foundation, an independent, private foundation based in Lake Forest, Illinois, was established in 1949 by William W. Grainger, founder of W.W. Grainger, Inc.
