The American Red Cross Urges Central North Carolina to Prepare Now for Floods
Raleigh, NC, September 27, 2010 – Central North Carolina is prone to seasonal flooding, and the Triangle Area Chapter of the American Red Cross urges residents to take steps now to stay safer when floods threaten.
“By preparing together for floods, we can make our families safer and our communities stronger,” Barry Porter said. “We can help you and your family create a flood preparedness plan now, before our community is threatened by excessive rainfall.”
This morning, the National Weather Service has warned of the possibility of flash flooding that may accompany the rainfall that Central North Carolina is receiving through Monday evening. Tornadoes and severe thunderstorms are also likely throughout the evening, so residents should take proper precautions.
